The third event that I attended this quarter was “ COSMOLOGICAL ELEMENTS #3”. This event was very interesting and there were a number of speakers and art that really caught my attention. The first part of the event that really captured my attention was the artwork by a woman named Angel. I was so inspired by her dedication to capturing beautiful photographs of the night sky. I really enjoyed hearing her discuss how she has gone on many adventures and journeys to travel to different cities to take pictures of the night sky from different places. She discussed how the pictures of the night sky look very different around the world, and this was so interesting to learn about. I never really thought that the night sky would look so different depending on what city you are in. I was in awe of her passion for her artwork and photography of the night sky and I was captivated by the incredibly clear and beautiful photos that she was able to capture.  [Figure 1.] Angela's Artwork and Proof o

This week's topic has been very eye-opening and interesting to read about and observe. This topic really shows the relationship between nanotechnology and art, and how this relationship can develop amazing works of art that viewers would be mesmerized by. The material that helped me best understand this topic were the lectures, TED talks, and the articles that we were assigned to read. From these materials, I learned that the relationship between nanotechnology and art has caused artists and scientists to work together, bringing science and art closer together. This amazing type of art is helping to close the divide between the two cultures, by encouraging collaboration between researchers and artists.    [Figure 1.] Nanotechnology Art Nanotechart is helping to familiarize people with the nano world and it teaches people more about nanotechnology. In this week’s material, we learned about the relationship between neuroscience and art. I have personally always been fascinated by the brain and how incredibly complex the brain truly is. I used a number of different materials this week to really understand and dive deep into this topic. Some of the materials that really stood out to me and helped me understand this topic were the lectures, TED talks, and the presentation from Professor Daniel Jay.  [Figure 1.] Human brain The first piece of material that really caught my interest was the TED talk about looking into our brains in real time. I thought it was so interesting hearing the speaker talk about MRIs and how they have allowed us to look into our brains and see what our brain really looks like. I thought it was so intriguing when the speaker showed how when someone is moving or doing something, then the MRI can show what part of the brain is being used. The second event of the quarter that I attended was the “Cosmological Elements #2” virtual event. There we many interesting speakers and works of art showcased at this event, and I learned a lot of amazing information about space. One of the first pieces of art that really caught my attention was the Exobiotanica, the Japanese artwork in which the artists send plants into space. I was so intrigued by this artwork because I have never seen anything like this before, and it was so beautiful to see flowers all the way up in space. It makes me really look up to these artists because it must have taken so much time and dedication to develop the plans for this artwork.  [Figure 1.] Exobiotanica I also really enjoyed hearing the speakers talk about mining in the sky, and how difficult it is to actually have the ability to study extraterrestrial matter.   I really enjoyed learning about this week's topic, the relationship between BioTech and Art. Prior to this course, I never thought there was a relationship between these two, and I always thought that they were so different and that they wouldn’t share any common ground. At first, it was a bit hard for me to understand the reading material for this week, but the material that really helped me was the lectures and especially the video about Joe Davis “Scientist? Artist. Pirate! Who is Joe Davis?”. I absolutely loved watching this video because I found Joe Davis to be so captivating and great at explaining the relationship between BioTech and Art!  [Figure 1.] Joe Davis Joe Davis is a man who goes into science labs and works directly with scientists, and he uses these findings in both scientific and artistic ways. Joe Davis believes that art helps science understand itself, and when he said this it really made me think and it really helped me understand this week's material. I
